Pro Bono Spotlight: John W. Vaudreuil

As Alberto J. Mora, ABA Associate Executive Director for Global Programs, and Judge M.Margaret McKeown, ABA ROLI Board Chair, noted in our 2018 Annual Report Foreword, ABA ROLI relies upon the incredible contributions of pro bono lawyers. Their work plays a critical role in ABA ROLI’s mission to promote justice, economic opportunity, and human dignity through the rule of law. John W. Vaudreuil is one of these remarkable individuals who shares our commitment to advance justice, and recently wrote an article with the State Bar of Wisconsin about his work with ABA ROLI.

After nearly 40 years of service as a prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice, Vaudreuil began his pro bono service with ABA ROLI in March 2017. Since then, he has trained legal actors from Egypt, Libya, and Peru.

Mary Greer,Senior Technical Advisor, Criminal Law at ABA ROLI, alongside Vaudreuil.

“You will meet remarkable people, all of them striving– often in very difficult circumstances– to make their countries better and safer, and all of them committed to advancing the rule of law. And I can promise that you will receive as much, if not more, than you give.”
- Vaudreuil in his article, which is available to read online here.
