Malaysian Judges with the International Visitor Leadership Program Meet With ABA ROLI

ABA ROLI Asia team members listen to one of the judges share their perspective.

Last week, the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) Asia team met with four Malaysian judges who were visiting the USA as part of the U.S. State Department’s
International Visitor Leadership Program. Under the program, the judges have the opportunity to observe and study the American judicial system. The ABA staff and Malaysian judges discussed the role of the ABA in various elements of the legal community, such as developing model rules of professional conduct, rating the qualifications of Supreme Court nominees, and advocating for the rule of law in the U.S. and abroad. ABA ROLI also discussed its work internationally, including in Malaysia and other countries across Asia and the Pacific, as well as the challenges to the rule of law there.
