The ABA Journal, the "most trusted and respected voice of the legal profession for over 100 years" recently published an essay by ABA President Hilarie Bass about protecting judicial independence as part of their "Defending Justice" series. In the essay, President Bass highlights ABA ROLI's Judicial Reform Index, a tool developed "to assess states’ judicial reform and judicial independence" offering "international organizations, development agencies, technical legal assistance providers and local reformers a reliable means to target judicial reform programs and monitor progress toward establishing more accountable, effective and independent judiciaries."
